Beignets to go at Salt tomorrow a.m.

beignetsCafe du Monde has inspired chef Chad Townsend at Salt. The New Orleans' institution known for its beignets and chicory coffee is a must for tourist as well as locals. A visit starts with the heavenly scent of sweet, fried dough and ends with your shirt littered with powdered sugar. It's more than worth it. 

This Saturday, from 9 to 11 a.m., Salt will sell beignets to go. They're $4 for a bag of three, with coffee extra. (They're working out the details but there will indeed be coffee.) Beignets can be had with sauces -- I had honey with the ones in the photo -- but they're delicious on their own.  

In my fantasy life, we'd be able to get these at least once a week, though there is something great about a once-in-awhile treat.
