52nd Street Market opened on Saturday at 601 52nd St. in Lawrenceville in the space that had been Bloomfield Market. Deirdre Kane and Dora Walmsley stock more than the essentials of a corner store and will offer prepared foods in the next two weeks.

Among greens in the fridge, there's kale, green leaf and iceberg lettuce, spinach, escarole, cucumbers, celery, broccoli and fresh herbs sourced through Paragon Foods. Ms. Kane says already popular are bulk items, including organic yellow popcorn, long-grain rice, banana chips, lentils and spices.

Zeke's coffee is brewed at the shop and also is sold by the pound, along with Zeke's sweets such as scones and trail bars.

Customers can offer suggestions for what they'd like to see for sale via the running list near the bulk foods.
