Here’s what’s dishing on the blogs we follow:

With this cold weather upon us, I’ve been comforting myself at Simply Romanesco - with Baked Potatoes with Garlic and Fresh Herbs, and – wait for it – Creamed Corn!  I love these two together.

You also can find comfort food on the Pittsburgh Hot Plate: Authentic Pennsylvania Halushki – a classic local mixture of cabbage and noodles.  Because bacon and butter are involved, I’m sure that it’s delicious.  Chef Chuck serves us other notable recipes such as Salmon Alfredo with Farfalle, Sweet Peppers, and Sun Dried Tomatoes, as well as a Traditional Beef Stew.

China Millman opted for some glamorous recipes – Duck Confit and Apple Butter – that would be good additions to the holiday menu.

On Eat Street we learned that the ice cream man has more competition, as Bella Christie & Lil Z's Sweet Boutique offer their sweet delights from a truck.

Michelle, the Brown Eyed Baker, is getting ready for the presidential election with some adorable cookies.  And if they don’t help you decide on a candidate, perhaps her Pumpkin Blondies will!

On I Heart PGH, Lindsay mentioned the 7th Annual Podcamp Pittsburgh, a free unconference on all things social media that took place last weekend.

Julia from eatPGH went to Root 174 and stumbled upon the best chicken of her life.  Then she headed to Gullifty’s in Squirrel Hill for dessert.  Also, Sarah pointed out that City Dining Cards are available.  For $20 you receive 50 $10 discount cards to local restaurants.  A pretty good investment!

See you here next week.
