The Oscar Mayer Weinermobile, which we blogged about when it was here last fall, is making some more stops around Pittsburgh.
This time, the car is captained by Cokie Reed and her co-driver "Sam & Cheese" (Samuel Blum). On the way here, the duo made a sweet stop in Northwest Indiana, as photographed above by Kyle Telechan of The Times of Northwest Indiana.
If you'd like to take a photo of, or have your photo taken with, the vehicle and get a Wiener Whistle, their planned stops are:
• Noon to 5 p.m. June 27 at the Wal-Mart Super Center, West Brownsville.
• 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 28 at the Wal-Mart Super Center, 2351 Century Dr., West Mifflin
• 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 28 at the Wal-Mart Super Center, 250 Summit Park Road, North Fayette
This is one of six Wienermobiles that young folks are driving around the country this summer. Ms. Reed, a former University of Texas at Austin basketball who retired due to injuries in January, says that while not much is new for this visit, "we are about to launch a huge summer promotion called Wienermobile Run next month! I can't say much about it. But I can say that all six Wienermobiles will be taking on different personas! Sam & Cheese and I will be driving #DriftDog!"
You can follow their adventures on the Hotdogger Blog.
One of my friends sent a photo yesterday of the L.L. Bean Bootmobile in Oakland, so let's be careful out there, Pittsburgh. (Thankfully, the Big Idaho Potato Truck is in Nebraska.)
Maybe the Wienermobile and Bootmobile can hook up here. The Bootmobile is to be a Oakland's Schenley Plaza on Saturday, June 29, for an Outdoor Discovery Day, and hotdogs always go great with camping ...
