A Downtown coffee tasting

Simpatico Espresso is a great little coffee- and smoothie stand tucked away inside the lobby of the former Regional Enterprise Tower, which started out as the Alcoa Building, at 425 Sixth Ave., Downtown.

This Wednesday, Oct. 16, would be a good time to check it out, because from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., the stand and 19 Coffee Co. are doing a free coffee tasting.

The Washington, Pa., roaster makes Simpatico's house blend and many of the single-origin coffees that Simpatico brews on its cool Trifecta single-cup brewer.

For the tasting, they'll be offering samples of three different origins brewed in the Trifecta, in a French press and as a pour-over. They'll also be giving away tastes of their smoothies, including the kale one that is the house specialty, as well as protein shakes and chai.
