Pittsburgh likes Buddy Valastro, and the "Cake Boss" is liking us back.

The star of TLC's "The Cake Boss," who runs a now-famous bakery in Hoboken, N.J., is coming to Market Square on Tuesday, April 2, to give away 10,000 cakes.

Mr. Valastro, shown here at a 2011 benefit here for the Young Women's Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation, is doing this Downtown demonstration "as a way to say thank you to his Pittsburgh fans!"

So says a news release, which says he'll be present from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. that day. He will pose for photos with fans on a first-come, first-served basis and giving away 7-inch cakes.

He happens to be launching a line of his own cakes, working with Dawn Foods, that will be available at retailers across the country. In this area, the line is to be carried by Giant Eagle.

The cakes, with a suggested retail price of $27.99, come in these six flavors, which The Boss says are his recipes and his designs -- "The same cake you’d get at my bakery.”

• OH MY GANACHE! It's described as "Layers of heavenly chocolate cake with chocolate shavings filled with a creamy fudge filling and topped with Belgian chocolate ganache." (This is the cake to be given away Tuesday.)

• WHOLE LOTTA CARROTS -- "Layers of moist cake with real carrots, pineapple, raisins, coconut and walnuts, married together by rich cream cheese frosting."

• VA VA VELVET -- "Moist layers of delicious red velvet cake filled with a rich cream cheese
frosting and finished with cake crumbs and white chocolate shavings."

• DULCE DE LECHE -- "Caramel dulce de leche filling between layers of rich chocolate cake,
iced with dulce de leche buttercream and drizzled with Belgian chocolate ganache

• BADA BLOOM -- "Moist yellow cake and velvety chocolate cake layers married together
by an indulgent layer of fudge filling."

• IT’S MY PARTY  -- "Moist yellow cake and velvety chocolate cake layers married together
by an indulgent layer of fudge filling."
