Ina Garten is coming to Pittsburgh

Written by Bob Batz Jr. on

We know lots of people who absolutely love Ina Garten and who will be thrilled to know that the "Barefoot Contessa" and best-selling cookbook author is coming here this spring for a fundraiser for the Pittsburgh Botanic Garden.

The June 1 event is called "The Hamptons in The Heights" and will take place at Allegheny Country Club in Sewickley Heights.

Today's news release says the event "is designed to celebrate the glories of summer -- fresh air, fresh foods, fresh gardens and landscapes, refreshing drinks and the gathering of community.

"Indoor and outdoor spaces will come alive, inspired by the fabled Hamptons communities, for a casually elegant evening featuring cocktails, live entertainment, a strolling supper, auction items and croquet on the lawn. Proceeds from the evening will benefit the opening phases of the garden."

The Pittsburgh Botanic Garden is being planted on 452 acres of reclaimed land along
the Parkway West at Settler's Cabin Park in Collier and North Fayette. Part of it could open this fall.

Tickets are $250 each, or $500 with a VIP reception that also includes a private audience with Ms. Garten.
