04192013bigeggPicking one Pittsburgh Craft Beer Week event for today (Saturday) is hard, and it's only going to get harder as the week goes on.

Some of the quirkiest, most worthy events already are sold out, such as this morning's hop gardening expedition at Garfield Community Farm, and tonight's beer-tasting furndraiser for homeless women and children, Hops for Hearth.

So let's spotlight a rare breakfast event: Kegs 'n' Eggs at Bocktown Beer and Grill's Robinson location (technically in North Fayette).

Starting at 8 a.m. and going until 2 p.m., that Bocktown is kicking off PCBW "with a hearty breakfast, because you're gonna need it! Chef Michael has some creative early morning grubbery to fuel you through a week of local craft beer love and revelry! Wash it all down with our exclusively local tap list (featured all week long) and you are ready to start proper."

Amongst the 16 taps will be all five of the week's collaboration beers.

According to Bocktown's website, the food menu is to include:

Ricci’s Wakeup Fries – Our fresh cut fries, homemade Ricci’s sausage gravy and cheddar jack cheese

Crabby Benedict – poached egg, seared crab cake, baby spinach, tomato on grilled ciabatta

Reuben Omelet – shredded corned beef, kraut, Swiss, eggs, and marble rye toast with a side of 1000 island and  home fries

Pork BBQ Omelet – pulled pork, Mozzarella, onions, eggs, and Italian toast with a side of BBQ sauce and  home fries

Pot Roast Hash – pot roast, cheddar jack, onions, peppers, potatoes, fried egg and toast

Just Peachy French Toast – three slices of thick-cut Italian bread, dipped in peach vanilla-infused batter with bacon and home fries

Plus these drinks:

Raspberry Beermosa – local wheat beer, Champagne and Chambord

The Stout Fellow- Stoli Salted Karamel vodka, Kahlua, cream and local stout

Melon Morning Glow – fresh cantaloupe, Jim Beam, lemonade, ginger ale and mint

Read more about the event at Bocktown's website. They'll be doing another PCBW Kegs 'n' Eggs next Saturday, April 27 at their Monaca location in Hopewell.

(The chalk egg above was drawn, as you can see, for a previous Kegs 'n' Eggs holiday, by multi-talented Bocktown "beertender" Sarah Lageman.)
