Hofbrauhaus tapping doppelbock

Written by Bob Batz Jr. on

At 7 p.m. tonight, Hofbrauhaus Pittsburgh will tap its beer o' the month: Doppelbock.

It has the excellent name, "Adulterator."

The South Side brewery and restaurant describes it as a "rich, complex, full-bodied doppelbock with hints of chocolate, coffee, caramel and a bit of a hop presence at the end."

It's a warming 8 percent alcohol by volume.
The photo above depicts an equally warming food pairing suggestion: Doppelbrats.
That's grilled bratwurst topped with a doppelbock caramelized onion sauce, served with mashed potatoes and red apple kraut.

Just the thing to refuel after the keg tapping parade.

Hofbrauhaus Pittsburgh is at 2705 South Water St. in SouthSide Works; call (412) 224-2328.
