Lew Bryson, famed writer and blogger on beer and spirits and the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board, is coming to Seven Springs Mountain Resort in Somerset County.
As part of Seven Springs Beer Academy, Penn Brewery is bringing him in to lead a beer-food pairing and discussion of the same in the Matterhorn Lodge at 1:30 p.m. this Saturday, Feb. 2. You must of course be 21 with proper ID; tickets are only $15.
The menu, according the folks from Penn, matches its winter brews with small bites:
St. Nikolaus Bock -- Squash and Fig Risotto with Creme Fraiche
Nut Roll Ale -- Spiced Turkey & Cranberry Rouladen
Chocolate Meltdown Stout (infused with black cherries) -- Double Chocolate and Organic Walnut-Honey Baklava
7-Springs Mountain Ale -- BBQ Slow-Roasted Beef with Scallion, Hoisin and Chive
Harvest Rye IPA -- Baked Apple with Dried Fruit and Harvest Rye Gastrique
Weizenbock -- Spice Glazed Ham & Caramelized Banana Pound Cake Canape
Doesn't that sound good? And if you at all know Lew, from his writings or his local appearances, it sounds like a lot of fun.
He sent me this photo of himself, taken on a boat in Northern Ireland last year.
Lew gets around.
